Rome

We departed from Tulsa, Oklahoma on our long journey across the Atlantic Ocean. We were bound for Italy. Our first trans-oceanic flight; our first real trip outside the United States. Without difficulty, we connected through Atlanta, Georgia and were bound for Rome on an MD-11 aircraft.  The main portion of the flight lasted a short 8 and one-half hours. Suddenly, we were cast into the midst of the bustling ancient metropolis known as Rome.  Our 10 day odyssey had began!

We arrived at our hotel, The Sicilian, not quite a block from the famous Via Veneto. The street that made Rome famous with American movie-goers in  1959 with the filming of "La Dolci Vita" or The Sweet Life.

Tired and hungry we stowed our things in our humble Roman quarters and began a search for some coffee and sustenance. Fortunately, this is Rome and we had no difficulty in locating both in short order.  Back to the room to adjust to the jet lag for a short nap.  We were off again exploring the city.
