Home School
American Adventure Camp
August 1 - August 15, 2002

To Tree and PD's Home Page

In August 2002, Home School (Suwon, South Korea) had our first international summer camp for Korean students.  We took a group of 11 Korean children (ages 7 - 12) to Northwest Arkansas.  For nearly all of the students, this was their first trip overseas and their first trip to America.  Our goal was to give our students a chance to learn about American culture by studying, playing, and interacting with American students. It really was an adventure, from start to finish.

Below is a summary of our schedule.  Click on the links in the schedule for more detailed description - and, of course, PHOTOS!

Also, this trip really wouldn't have been possible without all of the great help from my family in Arkansas.  Extra special thanks to Michael, Robin, and Dominic!

If you'd like to download and view all of the photos, check out the Power Point Show.

PLEASE NOTE:  It is a VERY large file and will take several minutes to open in your web browser.

Travel from Korea to America

For some students, this was their very first time to ride on an airplane.  It was a very long trip.  We started in Seoul and flew to Atlanta, Georgia.  From there, we transferred from Atlanta to XNA, Northwest Arkansas Regional Airport.

We rented a 15 passenger van to transport the students around Northwest Arkansas.  This was a great opportunity for them to see the countryside, including cows, chickens, and horses!
